80 people in the entire fvcking world have died from it. Seriously, who gives a sh!t.

It has a 3-5% mortality rate and is very contagious. There's a reason that the CDC and other disease control centers are alarmed. Just to contrast, the common flu's mortality rate is something like 0.004%(IIRC). To put it in another perspective, if SARS spread like the flu, millions(up to approx 10-15 million) in the US alone would die from it. SARS is a potential catastrophe.

ok, so where does the 3-5% mortality rate come in. 80 deaths in the world, 2,220 reported cases. That's no where near 3-5%.

So much for peoples' infatuation with the most recent 'happening' stuff...

It's based on confirmed cases, besides it doesn't kill instantly.

80/2220*100%=3.6%

BTW, they just said on the news that 166 people have died from SARS, not 80.

That's likely due to various Medical Agencies/Ministries taking decisive action.

or its not as contagious as some are led to belive. the news makes big deals out of small issues. yes, wash your hands, respect peoples space, and if you feel sick don't expose yourself unnecessarily to others until you feel better, if you don't start to feel better within a few days go to the doctor. but for the love of god panic when %0.0000325 of the population is sick with SARS.

Someone should write a fast spreading computer virus named SARS so the media has some better numbers to talk about.
