I have been trying my hardest to catch a stripper surf fishing at Belmar, NJ. Till this day i have yet to catch one. does anyone here surf fish and wanna give me some pointers?? thanks.

 
Try fishing for a striper instead of a stripper? 🙂

hahahaha.. thanks cyberian.. but the gist must be the same where ever you are.. used to take a 6 foot rod with 12lb line and couldn't understand why everyone else's line was WAY out there while mine was right there.. lol.. so i know i need to buy a longer rod, probably 10-12 ft. .anything else that i'm missing?? lmk
 
I don't think a longer fishing rod is going to do you much good.
I know a striper is a striper, but check with the local bait shops and ask who is catching what with what kind of rig.
I stand in the surf here and watch the guy on my left catch all he can handle, and the guy on my right go home empty handed.
