If so, is the monitor stand optional? I do not want to use it. If so, would the glass already have holes in it?

The holes aren't in the glass - they're in the tube frame around it. Holes in glass would weaken that desk pretty badly

As RagingBITCH said, holes are in tube frame. Holes in the glass...well, if it needed it, it BETTER come with holes, cause its kinda impossible to drill through glass.
