monster cable is like Bose. most audiophiles and videophiles laugh at it. Just paying for the name is all people are doing.

Gamecube and PS2 don't do it justice at all! But they still look incredible even though I'm projecting onto a flat off white textured wall (106" 16:9 screen is on the way) and using a composite RF cable (component and HDMI cables on the way as well.

The above images where taken with the PS2 playing a DVD on a composite RF connection on that flat wall... imagine when it's set up properly. Escaflowne in 4:3 mode with black bars on the sides and T2 in 2.85:1 with black bars on top and bottom.

Can't see the black bars? Thats how great this LCD projector is with 2000:1 CR and dynamic iris. Primary purpose was for gaming so I wanted the brilliant color that 3 panel LCD can provide, but movie performance has impressed me greatly as well.

Full white image shows not a single defective pixel and image is spotless, perfectly uniform, not dirty, banded, etc. This completely pwns plasma; only 1" thin screen, 12 lbs weight, 106", and no burn in, just have to replace a $300 bulb, not a $5,000 panel.

It's a Sanyo PLV-Z3 I picked up brand new for $1500. Should do me well till 1920 x 1080p becomes more popular.

PS3 will be native 1280 x 720p with HDMI output.... DROOL

Looks good, but can't you pick out a good sample image?

I'll get some gaming photos as soon as it gets dark. Just moved into a new house and have been spending all money on furniture, AV gear, computers, etc... havent got anything for the rear glass door on the south wall that is 6' x 8' letting in a ton of sun light. I've only had the projector for a few days so... now that I know this projector is worth catering the room to, Im going to tint the windows and get verticals or something for that rear window.

A real screen will help too, this off white swiss flat paint just diffuses the image everywhere. Got a 106" 16:9 Da lite HC reflective 1.1 gain fixed wall screen on the way.

Be warned, as I said, I have crappy yellow composite connectors temporarily, and worse, spliced with a male to male adapter in order to get the video to the projector and the sound to the AV controller. It's also coming out in interlaced NTSC format, then being de interlaced and converted back to progressive scan by the projector... horible.

But you see how great it looks now, just wait till its set up right.

I've been hunting for a screen for a long time, primary purpose gaming, secondary purpose occasional DVD. I do not watch broadcast TV nor subscibe to anything except cable internet, nor do I care for broadcast. Here is what I found:

Flat panel:
-----------
Plasma - out of the question, poor color precision and short life (ie: phospher burn)
LCD - washed out contrast, slow response time, ghosting

RPTV:
------
Looked at various DLP and LCD sets, nothing I was impressed with. Looked at Sony 70" XBR950 for $5000 then costs went into $10,000 plus as I considered the Sony Qualia 006 70" LCOS and Mitsubishi 82" 3 chip LCOS sets.

CRT:
-----
decided finally for gaming a 4:3 CRT would still be best and the largest is the Sony 40"
I looked and looked for a used one but most I found on ebay were east coast and refused shipping.

Projectors:
------------
9" CRT projectors: would love a G90 or 1292Q but no-no for games and graphics

The only choice was DLP or LCD for gaming. Either would be good but the rainbow effect and poor color reproduction of DLP was a concern. Contrast and darkness wasn't my top concern: I wanted brightness and color saturation for vivid gaming.

Typical problems that plague LCD such as response time and ghosting does not seem to be a problem on projectors. The poly silicon LCD panels are so small (0.7" ) that interpixel signal propagation and polymer twist time seems to be very very fast compared to say a 17" panel of the same resolution.

Finally someone hear who shared my concerned gave in and mentioned they got a Sanyo PLV-Z3 and a 100" screen for two grand and claimed the picture blew away everything else he saw. I was recently fixated on $2000 because thats what I was just willing to pay for a used Sony 40" XBR800 CRT if I could find someone to ship it. Read some reviews on some 720p projectors, found out how far along non-CRT projectors have come in recent years, etc.

Not disappointed at ALL.

Yes you need a dark room, but if your willing to make that ONE and only sacrifice, youll be rewarded with an image that beats everything else hands down. This thing reproduces compression artifacts in MPEG2 in shadows (purple and blue splotches) that I couldn't see on a CRT TV without turning up the brightness and contrast to maximum.

And you'll have alot of jealous friends who try as they might will not be able to find a 106" HDTV at the local Best Buy or Circuit City at all, let alone one that looks this great :)

Still working with the camera. It's hard getting pictures in a dark room without a flash with a slow shutter speed with a CMOS based camera.

I'm currently using Svideo with my Gamecube and Infocus X1 projector. Svideo is big improvement over stock composite cables. But I wanted the best so yesterday I ordered Nintendo brand component cables so I can get 480p. Nintendo store online was out of stock for awhile but finally got some in. Cables are kind of pricy at $30 but you can only buy from Nintendo. Unlike other component cables where you can buy different brands like Monster, etc, or build your own, Nintendo Gamecube component cables are proprietary and have special hardware in the interface cable. Nintendo is the only one who makes this cable and no one else. So OP you were not using component cables with your gamecube if you're using Monster cables. It was most likely Svideo or composite.

Composite is blurry and ugly with my X1.
Svideo is lot better and I can actually enjoy my Gamecube games like Zelda. But it's still not as clear as I would like. My Dreamcast with VGA cables is still lot sharper.
Component is obviously best for Gamecube, and I'm hoping it will make images sharp as my Dreamcast with VGA.
