er, uh, the clapper?

just wondering if they actually worked as advertised... I was thinking about getting one for my living room.

getting home from work at 7-8 pm, it's always dark and there's no overhead light in my living room, so I end up having to fumble around and switch on a lamp on the other side of the room in the darkness to get some light.

You could always put the lamp on a timer, have it set to turn on around 7. Of course, if you turn it off at night, you'd have to remember to put the switch back in the "on" position before leaving.

Or just get a nightlight that turns on when it is dark.

I made one in a university class. It was pretty easy to do. It has a potentiometer for adjusting the sensitivity. Which I had to use after having the light turn off when I popped open a beer can (which happened pretty often .
