I'm wondering if that's the way to go when buying my next car? Did you save a good deal of money versus buying from a private party?
 
My friends GF's dad owns a used lot, he can get some killer deals on cars, but you get no warranty whatsoever, and you need to have a dealers license to get in to the auction

Not really, since you paid what the dealer sold it for, not what he paid for it.

My dad knows people that will let us accompany them for a small fee if we get a car.
