Haven't had that specific phone, but I have had a few Panasonic phones and they are awesome. They always are the ones that go the farthest away from my house and still are clear. Good luck with your phone! Let me know how it works out for you, I'm looking for a portable phone myself.

My buddy has that model, if I remember correctly. I like it and have never had a problem using. Never heard crap when I call him either.

Some VTech phones are about as useful as the ones they sell in the infant section at ToysRUs.

Depends on your budget. I think the first one would be a better phone, but both are good and won't screw you over. The second one obviously is a little easier on the budget if you're a poor college student like me.

I have the 2.4GHz model that has the built-in answering machine. Can't complain. Crystal clear and I can go 3 flights down to the laundry room in my building (cement floors/walls) without problems.

Nik-
Panasonic phones are the ones that can go all the way around my neighborhood- member when I talked to you and I was at Heather's on my phone?

I've got a VTech pos in my dorm room- it's my roommates. It sucks- it gets fuzzy going 10 feet down the hall.

I'm a Panasonic cordless phone zealot, just so you know. However I've heard nothing but so-so reviews about some of their 2.4 GHz cordless phones. However their 900MHz cordless phones seem to be solid. I own a 900MHz with headset jack and it's always crystal clear and the phone puts up with a lot of abuse, dropping on the ground, etc.

Check your local CostCo they have a few good Uniden and Panasonic 900MHz cordless phones for anywhere from $39 up to $99.

Best damn 2.4GHz phone I've ever owned.

And it ranked higher than all the Panasonic 2.4GHz phones in CR.

The two things I like best about them are they're as small as cell phones and you can add on additional handset/charger bases that run off the base unit. Meaning you can have a phone in a charger anywhere there is a power outlet.

<< Or would this be a better deal? 900MHZ >>

I have that exact model, a really great phone! I moved up from an old Panasonic(the best cordless I had heard up until then), and this one is even better! :)
If you're tight for cash, get this one, it's a beaut.

I have a 2.4 Ghz, upped from 900Mhz

2.4 Ghz has a ridiculous range. Really far away it must be LOS, no big trees or cars to stay static free. I walked to my neighbors and back talking to somebody, right into their house my MY PHONE. I thought that was pretty cool. Sitting way in the back field and have the phone ring right beside you when your house is acres away!

I love the phone, a little pricey but worth it.

How far I can go from the base is not a concern to me. If I need to go far, I take my cell phone. What I really like about cordless phones is the headset capability. Standard 2.5 mm jack to plug in a headset ownz j00.

At work we have similiar Panasonic phones all the way around (10 employees), and they take more of a beating than any phone I've ever seen (dropped on cement, thrown across the office, you name it), and the only problems I've seen is the battery going to hell and one speaker dying.

JACKHAMMER - I would consider this phone after doing some research and reading reviews at amazon.com epinions.com and 800.com if most of those reviews are positive then this would be a good phone to get.

It's 900MHz, dual keypads, speakerphone (very helpful), caller ID and digital answering machine. If you already have a separate answering machine, voice mail or don't want an answering machine you could probably get a lesser model for $20-$30 less which still has dual keypads, speakerphone and caller ID.

I challenge any cordless phone to handle my family's kitchen. We've gone through about 3 phones in the past 5 years. Two Panasonics, acutally. I don't think the phone can handle the enviroment! BWHAHAHAHA
