Does anyone have ATT internet?

I currently have internet with the only internet company in my town (Suddenlink). But I am paying $80/Month for 2Mbps internet (Download speeds of around 350kb/s and uploads of around 32kb/s, and expanded cable (around 40 channels). I signed up for a trial netflix account today and am streaming to my Xbox 360. I like it a lot, and if I get Netflix I am going to get rid of cable because I rarely watch cable I usually watch movies. ATT offers that fastest internet here right now. They offer their "Direct Elite" internet package for $45/month which is 6Mbps. To my understanding that would be about 3 times as fast as what I currently have. Does anyone have the ATT Direct Elite package and can comment on speeds or anything?
 
I have the level below that and I get about the same throughput that you do with your current internet service. Overall I have no complaints, but if they ever offer elite in my area I'm getting it.
 
I had it for a day or so and it sucked ass compared to Cox cable internet access so I dumped them. It was cheaper but it sucked.

i've had this new service for the last couple of months and it's definitely faster than the 3Mbps i had before. . . .not twice as fast but a noticeable increase

Thanks for the responses. I contacted them and got some questions answered. Looks like I am going to switch to them monday and see how it is.

I have the AT&T Elite package and stability and speeds have been satisfactory. Customer service can be a PITA, though.

I've had ATT DSL for 5 years or so. In that time it has been rock solid. Only one outage for an evening and that was because an entire DSLAM went down.

I always get my full 3Mbps.
 
I wish I could have ATT DSL, but supposedly, they don't serve my building, so I had to settle for Comcrap in my apartment. (also, my roommates wanted TV, and didn't want to bother getting satellite set up).
 
I have AT&T U-verse. I think its great. We are getting 18Mbps as opposed to Insight's 7Mbps for the same price. Oh and they installed boxes on all of our tv's when Insight only installed theirs on one tv.
 
cable is better on downloading.... but I always had the best ping times in games. I had AT&T.. went to charter... which constantly drops. So I am getting AT&T 3mb service within the week,
 
Been using AT&T DSL for ages. No complain really. Up time's really really good, and customer service is exceptional. I've had to call them twice due to connection problem, their tech people know what the hell they're talking about and solved my problem real quick. Even sent a tech out to my house to fix the problem on site. Very impressed. Yeah sure BT is capped at around 600, but that's good enough for me. I'm have the 6MB plan, with real speed of 5MB.

Wow, 18 MBps Uverse, how much is that? I see that they just started offering that on 11/9. My parents have the pro, 3 mbps/1 mbps, a good deal for $30/month. We had them install the TV service in order to get the free installation/equipment, then got rid of it shortly after the 1 month trial (happy with DirecTV).

I have Cox in AZ, it was unreliable with my old modem, but when I got a new one it works fine..8 MBps I think.

ATT only offers 768 with a dry loop. Phone companies usually don't like offering this because they lose money on the deal.

news to me and all of us who got dryloop last november when the FCC forced them to start offering it so they could buy Southern Bell. If you are in a state that was not serviced by SB then maybe they haven't started offering it yet.

actually, I just checked the website and they have a button that shows you the price without a phone. $5 more. Looks like anyone can get it now.

SW Bell is not a very large telco, so their setup may be different. ATT only offers 768k dry loop connections (last I checked they were $24.95, and it's buried on their website). Verizon offers them for a $10/month extra charge---and plan on about 3 weeks of the techs hooking up your line incorrectly. Quest limits the areas you can get dry loop service and charges $10-$20 more a month for service.

We resell DSL circuits from most carriers nationwide, and dry loops became such a support nightmare (we averaged 12 hrs of support calls per circuit just to get it provisioned) that we stopped offering them.
