Does anyone have an ice maker in their home?

Reason I ask is the current freezer where I live smells like fish, constantly. The ice ends up smelling like fish and it isn't nice to smell the scent of fish while you try to drink something. I live with my girlfriend's parents so I cannot just ask them to remove all fishy items from the freezer. I was planning on looking into a seperate fridge/freezer and or an ice maker. I notice an ice maker is just about the same price as a fridge/freezer combo, around $800-1000 dollars.

put a new open Arm & Hammer box in the freezer to absorb freezer odours.

I own an icemaker, and one won't solve your problem. The ice sits in a bucket and will absorb odors just like ice in an ice tray.

How about buying them a separate freezer to put things such a meat in... They only cost about $150, and it would be a nice gesture for putting up with you. ;)

LOL!

Iron Woode, does that really work? My gf said she was going to try this. The odor is just nasty downright nasty! I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about, right? It isn't that they're dirty or anything, they just enjoy fish. My GF's family is Filipino and fish is a dish they eat a lot of lol.

You can try the baking soda... And while I'm sure it helps to some degree, it's not going to solve your problem.

Another suggestion... One of those vacuum food sealers should help.

I think I'm just going to invest in a fridge/freezer just for our stuff. We could keep it outside.

Agreed.. I bought one from Best Buy for $140 once. It was a nice top-loading model. Now, it's a kegerator. :p
