Does anyone go inside banks anymore?

I go inside. My reasons:
1) With the popularity of ATMs and drive-throughs, the lines for them are often 5-10 cars long. Then it is usually faster to go inside where there is never a line.
2) I refuse to trust an ATM when depositing cash. One employee decideds to steal a $20 and you have no proof. Newer ATMs which scan in and print out each bill will fix this - when they come out. But until then, it is inside for me.
3) You have to go inside for most banks to open accounts, get loans, etc.
4) At all of the four banks I've used recently, you cannot do an online or ATM transfer from a business account to/from a personal account - so inside the bank you go. Anyone know if this is a law or just bank policy?
5) It is just pleasant to have a personal relationship with the bank people. Growing up with my father as the vice president of a bank might be the reason everyone knew me and I've just kept that up at the other banks as well.
6) Going in person lets you bend the rules just a bit (especially if you follow #5). For example, this happens to me all the time: my wife got a check (which she signed) and I want cash when there is nothing in the account. Can't do that online or at an ATM because they will make the withdrawl before the check clears and you are hit with fees. If you know the cashiers personally, they'll get you around that minor issue.
7) ATMs still don't give rolls of quarters (at least ones I've seen). Need those for parking (and others may need it for laundry or for buisness cash registers). And vise-versa when you want to deposit a huge jar of coins.

I go in when I deposit large checks, and I want a receipt. As I've moved recently and gotten a job (before direct deposit kicked in), I've gone to the bank more in the past few months than I have in years.

California banks suck. They charge for everything. EVERYTHING. It's stupid.

My regional bank in Illinois provided actual service like ACTUAL free checking even if you don't have direct deposit, and they'd count my change for free even at the campus branch.

Even the large branches here in California refuse to put my change into their counting machines. They want you to take it to the grocery store machine (which charges about 10%).

I have about twenty pounds of pennies in a box under my bed.

About the only time I go into a bank is when someone writes me a check and I need to cash it. Maybe 3-4 times a year.

2) - just hold up the cash for the camera to see and then stick it in the envelope 🙂

yeah i do whenever i need to deposit a check. first i don't have deposit slips, second, its quicker 'cause they only put one girl on drive thru, and third, the girls behind the desk are hot.

That's almost exactly what my answer was going to be 😀

I go inside my bank 5-6 days a week, for at least 40 hours. Of course, if I didn't, I wouldn't get paid.

Your bank just sucks then.

Yup. I'll admit that. I was with BofA for two years, then Wells Fargo for four years, and now I'm with Citibank. Busey Bank ownz them all, but Citi has been the best so far.

If I end up living in LA county, I'll look into First Fed Cal.

Won an ebay auction a couple months ago from a guy who refused to do business unless you sent him a cashier's check or money order, so I had to talk to a teller. I won at $1 + $5 shipping! He didn't respond to my email pleas, so I had to.

I applied for a mortgage at the same bank (before I opened an account there). The loan officer, who happened to manage the bank, promised me they'd come through and that in the impossible event that it didn't, I'd get my $250 deposit back. I got shafted on both accounts. If I didn't like the sombitch (don't ask me why, I don't know) I would have sued him.

One of these days I'll probably roll up some coins and bring them in, but that's a maybe.

I would ask for the manager and then give him my change. If he wouldn't take it, I'd ask to close all my accounts and move to another bank. There has to be a bank or credit union nearby that can take care of your needs.

never. direct deposit + online banking. in fact, i dont even go to my banks atm's, because i have closer credit union atm's at my work and near my home 🙂beer: to the co-op network!)

yep, thought not nearly as often.. I usually go in to speak with my Financial guy (buddy from HS), as he;s managing my investments currently.. I also have to go in for foreign exchange, account changes and other stuff of the sort..

I always go in. I like to see the smiling face of the people that are taking care of my money... I also have to go in if I want to transfer money to my wifes account. They charge me a $5 fee if I use the teller more than 5 times a month.

only if i have cash to deposit. otherwise, i've been in there to either cash a check (because i didn't believe the source of the funds...) or to get a cashier's check (apt building i had moved into a while back wanted an official check for the remainder of the security deposit and first month's rent.)

oh and we exchanged coin rolls inside the bank.

My bank doesn't even have a physical branch. Online and phone only. Been using them for almost 5 years now. They are partnered with another bank so I can use any of their ATM's for deposits and withdrawls.

Well, I go through the drive-thru to cash my wife's expense checks once a month. They won't direct deposit those.

Just went on saturday to deposit a sizable check.

I go there for travelers checks as well and any large deposit outside of payroll.

oh and to get 100 singles for bachelor parties.
🙂

hot girls work at the wells fargo across the street from my community college.

I go in all the time 😀
