Does anyone else's dog slam their heads on the ground?

Every so often my dog will be lying down, and he'll raise his head for whatever reason, then just let it fall with a decent thunk on the hard floor. Once in a while, he'll hit so hard he'd let out a whine.

He's been doing it for as long as I remember, but he is pushing 12 years now (and still in very good shape) and I am wondering if his head bone is gonna crumble one day...

lol. I've tried. Once I made him lift his head up a few times by calling him and he never hit ground. It's totally random.

One time I took my corgi to a secluded, lit parking lot close to my place and threw a ball up in the air and he jumped up to get it, but one of his front paws didn't land correctly, so his face hit the concrete pretty hard.

otherwise, it does sound like some sort of nuero brain problem... like turretts or something... but if hes been like that his whole life im not sure i would worry about it.

lol. It's maybe once or twice a month. All his life. He'll be knocked out cold, snoring, wake up for whatever reason, look around, then drop his head and continue sleeping away.

I'm not worried, he just did it a little bit ago. My friends say he's just retarded.

I've owned 3 dogs in my life, he is the only one I had that likes beds. I wonder if that's why, he probably thinks the grounds going to be soft. My other dogs would refuse to sleep on a bed. They preferred the floor.
