Does anyone else wash their hair right after a haircut?

Topic of discussion that came up. Whenever I find I go to a more salonish type of haircutter (as opposed to a flat out barber), they usually offer to put gel or such in your hair.

I always refuse as usually I just take a shower afterward. When you get your hair cut theres always bits and pieces of cut hair that fall out, so I figure its better for them to fall out in the shower; hence no point in gel.

If not a complete wash, if I've had it cut short I stick my head under the tap then towel it off. Usually works.

Heck yeah, its a pain in the ass having all that loose hair sitting around in my shirt, on my neck, etc.

I just let them put the gel in to make sure that the cut looks decent

they wash my hair and then they gel it, but they never wash it that well. I let them gel, but then i go back to shower myself....

I don't need to, they wash my hair after I get it cut and then put gel in it.

Yes.

Furthermore, since I'm going to shower anyway, I tell them not to put the plastic draper over me. It traps heat and I start sweating so then I'm uncomfortable while getting my hair cut. I always have to explain this and reassure the hair stylist every time I get a new one.

Isn't it some kind of requirement? I always do. I don't want to get hairs in my bed and pillows.

Same here.

I go to Regis in the mall, because they've actually been nice every time. A bit expensive, but I only get it cut every few months, so its not too bad. I would just pass, but they charge you for it regardless, so might as well. That and they usually have some good looking women working there, so its a win-win situation. A couple of times it was like getting a scalp massage to boot.

I used to always go to my friend's dad's barber shop.. He was an old-school Jamaican who took haircutting seriously. Whenever he cut my hair, he would take out talc and a brush and brush all the loose hairs off. I would usually go home itch and loose hair free..

All other shops I've been to seem to just do a quick 5-minute cut and then either don't or briefly brush the loose hair off.

IMO, old barbers are the best.. They do things the same since the 50's.. when haircutting was a time to sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself for a bit.
