Does anyone else think caffeine free POP tastes different than regular?

Like Coke, or pepsi. Once my mom put regular pepsi in a cup and caffeine free in the other and marked it only so she would know and I did taste the diff!

Caffeine sucks. It makes my stomach lining burst open, and me throw up blood. Therefore, I would have to say that I've only ever had non-caffeinated coke, and thus cannot tell the difference between the two.

Oh yeah, there is definitely a difference. Try diet coke vs. caffeine free diet coke.

This is actually something done by the soft drink corporations on purpose. The formulation between caffienated drinks and non-caffienated is not different only by the absence of caffiene in most cases. Usually the mixture is different on some other level for one purpose or another. What reason this is done for, I don't know, but it's not the missing caffiene that gives it a different flavor.

There's no difference between caffeine-free Pepsi and regular Pepsi. I can tell if Pepsi came from a plastic bottle, a can, or from a fountain, and I can tell if it's diet, and I can tell if it's Coke trying to pass for Pepsi, but I can't tell any difference between caffeine-free and regular.

no, there is a taste difference.

Read my above post.

Just for refference caffiene is incredibly diluted in soda, something like 0.03% concentration if I remember right. (which I probably don't) I do know that if you drink caffiene of a concentration high enough that you can taste it you will most likely die from heart palpitations or something similar. Basically you'll OD on it. Check some online chemistry site or something for info on it.

GOD DAMMIT THIS ISN'T MOUNTAIN DEW

In TN if you ask for pop, you get nothing. Ask for a coke, most places will ask "what kind?" It's a location thing.

It tastes different for sure.

And fountain coke from burger king will taste different from a mcdonalds or from 711.

And coke from mcdonalds will taste different on thursday than it does on monday.

And coke in a glass tastes different that in plastic and that tastes diffrent from coke in aluminum.

The best Coca~Cola IMO is from the fountain, from a freshly calibrated machine, from Mcdonalds. YUMMM

And I haven't had a soda in over a year :(

So does this mean that only caffeine addicts can tell the difference?
I sure can't.
