Does anyone else really hate digital cameras or is it just me?

I really can't stand digital cameras. there resolution sucks, and there really expensive. I just think you get a lot better deal with film. what do you think?

I kinda agree. The digital cameras are kewl for posting to the web but not for much else inless you spend a couple thousand dollars on a good one.. I bought a Kodak awhile back and only use it to email pictures to people.

I bought an Olympus 3030z and it rocks, love it. and I think 2000x1500 is not considered a low resolution.

it is low res compared to a film camera, especially when your making large prints, which reminds me, you can't make large prints with a digital camera w/o dropping some serious dough for a special printer.

I've got an Olympus also, it is perfect for my uses. I really hate paper, and pictures fall into that category. Computers are just so much of my life (read: geek) that it does not bother me to use one of the computers to view my pictures. Not to mention I get them right away. :)

I sorta agree, they are way to expensive but they are kinda neat. I like the fact that you can just run to your pc and download the photos.

well, once you get into the professional range, it blurs...

olympus has a digital SLR out with 16 megapixels (that's 4x4) no interpolation there... =P

besides, i don't have to buy film, or get stuff developed. unless i want to.

I think that is just you. Digital cameras will save you a lot of time and $$$ if you know how to use them right.

I get quality 5x7's from my 1.3 megaPixel Olympus... eventually, I'll get something with 2-3 times that resolution.

Right now, I only print 1 out of 100 of the pictures I keep. My photo album is online, and for that, exactly how much resolution do you need?

I think they are too expensive, but I was able to buy more Kodak DC-240 for $245 -- thanks, Office Depot!! At that price, I thought it was worth it. Since I can just keep my photos on CD or quickly email them to friends and family, it's easier than film and less costly in the end because I don't waste pictures on bad shots -- I just delete them.

Actually, it was great this weekend because I was taking pictures of my three year old nephew who would then run over to see the picture on the LCD before running back and acting like a silly boy for another picture. :) It was fun for both of us.

The thing thats fun with digital is that since you're not depleting anything other than batteries, you tend to take many more pix than you would with 35mm. If you don't like whar you see, you just delete and start over. There is also the flexibility of using Photoshop to correct minor errors. I have all my old 35mm stuff including the darkroom and can tell you that it costs alot. 8X10 paper is expensive..alot more than photo quality ink jet paper. A 2.1m camera at 1240x960 takes pix that completely fill up your monitor screen, how big do you want them? Do you normally get your 35mm prints enlarged to 8x10? thatr is a very expensive proposition....a lot more than inkjet printing.

i have a poloroid, from wally mart. and it can get nice pictures, if i take the subject to fill the whole frame, dont have a finger in the lens, or flash, the batterys arn't low, and there is nothing in the fore ground. But it eats batterys faster than an Rc car, and when the batt is low it screws up the chip. .
I get decent 3x5's from it and wallets are spectacular, oh its not even a single mega pixel, so I'm hoping if I ever get the cash to try a real mega pixel camera I'll be happy. And the printer? 150 dollar lexmark z52. that gets kodak quality prints very very nice printer, except when someone jammed a screw driver into the paper in tray.

Also, i once got some spectacular shots of fireworks, I'll set up a web page to show you what a less than 1 megapixel camera can do, if you Pm me.
