Does anyone else not find Chapelle Show funny...at all?

I find the funniest shows to be things like Family Guy and a few seasons of the simpsons. I find futurama and king of the hill mildly amusing. I find that an SNL skit is usally pretty good on occasion. Strong Bad rox0rs my world,, too.

But I have never once found chapelle show funny. And I've watched it stoned. And I've watched it drunk. and I've watched it on DXM. and I've watched it sober. and I don't even recall laughing, even at the 'most famous' things like the Rick James skit.

Am I just weird?
 
I think it's a different type of funny compared to Family Guy and the Simpsons. It's just more outrageous, and not as witty. Kinda like South park, but in a less witty way.
 
it's o-k at best. alas whenever a show becomes popular enough that it has to cater to the illiterati in order to remain profitable the "jokes" are visible from a mile away.

aqua teen hunger force is pretty good, but only because it manages to be mental start to finish.
 
Chapelle's Show is increadibly funny.

for context, here are some other things that I think are funny: Family Guy, The Daily Show, South Park, MadTV, Sports Night, Arrested Development

I don't find him funny at all... I listen to some of the stuff he says and I hear the audience laugh and I'm just like "huh?"
 
Comedy isnt supposed tobe all "artsy and genius" ts suppsoed to make you laugh...get a sense of humor/
 
no shlt. Dave Chappelle has done some of the funniest stuff I have ever seen, how about the gay landscaper scooting the lawnmower across the yard. That was way funny.

I disagree. The *best* humor is "artsy and genius." Some people prefer thier humor to be clever, and others prefer things like body humor... Personally, I prefer jokes that don't beat me over the head with the punchline.

Anyway, I don't find the Chapelle Show funny, either. At least not the Rick James skit...

For reference, funny things: The Simpsons, Futurama, Family Guy (the 90% of the time that it's not TOO over the top), Office Space, Monty Python, Conan O'Brian, Strong Bad, the old SNL, Seinfeld, Who's Line Is It, Anyway?, SeaLab 2021 (usually funny), Best In Show...

Unfunny things: Body humor (I completely detest it), dead baby jokes (I think I hate these more than I hate body humor), the new SNL, Anime (either it's not funny and it's not supposed to be [and usually sucks], or it's "funny" [and it definitely sucks] ), hmmm... maybe I simply remember more funny things...
 
I'm the same way-I do NOT find him funny at all, however that's the way humor is, very subjective . I don't get Sinbad- I have watched several stand-ups of his, and don't "get it", but some people like him.
 
Have you seen his standup? I think it's even funnier than the show. I think the only reason you don't find it funny is because you don't want it to be funny.

Oh, and I think it's histerical.

He does some very funny and smart things. Like when he did his own truth commercial about driving high and they hit a little girl pulling out of mcdonalds going 2mph and then sped off. He also made fun of reperations, saying how black people would spend it all on beer and cigarettes / etc. He also had the race draft where he made fun of tigers wood getting drafted by asians and eminem getting drafted by blacks.

I can't really explain it, I've been watching his show with my friends since season 1, back when there was no "I'm Rick James, b!tch" quotes flying left and right.

I also like how he takes what if scenarios. Like he did a whatif scenario of what if real life was like a video game. And he did a hilarious representation of a real life grand theft auto 3. He even walked down the stairs funny and spent 2 minutes cycling weapons while getting shot at.

*shrug* Bottom line is he makes fun / talks about things that other people arn't willing to talk about. And because of that, I watch him.
 
I think it depends on if you are familiar with the whatever Chapelle is making light of. If you're not familiar with it, you just won't "get it" most of the time, and thus it won't be funny to you.
 
I'm fairly easily amused. Some of it I find ok, but some just drags out. Granted I've seen very, very little of it.
 
I think his old standup routines were some of the best I've ever seen...and on that note, I think his TV show is one of the worst I have ever seen.
