:thumbsdown😀oes anyone know whats wrong with Adelphia High-Speed Internet? (CABLE INTERNET)
When i play games online such as counter-strike, HL2, CS:S, etc. The Latency/ ping randomly spikes and laggs me. I sometimes reach pings up to 2000, for short times. This lag/spike is very annoying and sucks. Has anyone else here encounterd that problem if you have Adelphia high-speed internet? It started to spike about a month ago.

I have also noticed since I lagged in Steam related games that those are the only times i lag. Though when im DLing a file like a 25 mb file it downloads around 400KBS.

Another thing i noticed was that my Cable modems light that is suppose to flash only when transferring data flashes constantly even when my computer is off. It also flashes extremely fast.
DOES ANYBODY HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR CABLE MODEM FOR ADELPHIA?
I have contacted adelphia and they said their not sure.
My friend has the same internet as i do and hes having the exact problem too. he's been lagging randomly in CS too. 🙁 :| SUCKS alot.

Yes. This used to happen to me all the time. Playing a game, everything is good..then randomly, bang, 1000 MS ping. Then, in about 10 seconds, back to normal.

The problem has since been fixed, although I have no idea what changed to stop the ping spikes.

It is normal for the activity light to flash all the time on a cable modem. Calm down 😉

lol, ok but its just so weird, now my internet is getting even worse takes alot of time to load internet explorer and games. WELL OH WELL, iM GETTING DSL , earthlink dsl. SOON
3.0 MBPS . 45$/month =)

I have a few friends on Adelphia and you're not alone. They are my CS buddies and having Adelphia makes it nearly impossible for them to play a decent game online. The last I talked with them about it, they were still having the ping issues.

Uhm, do NOT get earthlink. Get DSL from whoever the local phone company is, because they are the ones providing the lines for earthlink anyway. Not to mention they will provide the service CHEAPER. Verizon only charges 30 bucks a month for 3 Mbps. So make sure you look elsewhere, earthlink doesn't actually maintain any DSL lines, they just lease them from someone else, which is why they are SO expensive for DSL.

That doesn't sound like a problem with your connection -- sounds like a problem with your computer.

Not always. Quest is close to other ISP's, and you can get things such as extra email/static IP's/CUSTOMER SERVICE from the other ISP's that you cannot get from the provider.

The best place to check with stuff for a specific ISP is www.broadbandreports.com
There's forums for every major (and many minor) ISP's there and they often find out about problems (and often solutions!) before the techs at the ISP do. In fact some techs from ISP's visit there and reply regularly (like SBC DSL techs).

Like a huge chunk of the USA comcast customers were having issues using the internet. Many many people called up tech support and they didn't know wtf was happening, you had to run through thier crappy checklist (is the modem on? is it directly connected to the computer, etc etc etc). A quick 5 min check of the forums showed that some of thier big DNS servers were screwed up and you just needed to enter in a new DNS IP that comcast had.
