Could also look into tweaking services, www.blackviper.com has a good guide, though with 640mb ram that probably isn't what's to blame for your system's sluggishness.

P4 2100MHz, 7400rpm hd w/ 8MB cache, mcafee run every saturday. auto defrag w/ diskkeeper. everything else is fast.

*shrug* when all else fails to solve an ie problem, get a new browser I was a die-hard ie6 user, tried & hated netscape though my friends all jeered at my browser choice. Tried firefox and was importing my favorites within a minute, haven't looked back since. www.mozilla.org
