Does anyone else get really sleepy right in the middle of the day?

I need to figure out how to stop this. I constantly get really sleepy around 12 or 1 pm every day. If i get up late, it generally hits me a little later in the day, but it still hits me. I get up, feel pretty good after taking a shower and such and goto class or whatever. Halfway into the day, i practically fall asleep. It doesn't matter what i'm doing or how intrested i am. I just feel like collapsing and falling asleep. Of course, drinking something cold (or hot, the opposite of how i feel @ the time) helps me get through it a bit and the feeling fades after an hour or so.

Does this happen to any one else? How to you guys get through it? Its happening dead smack in the middle of a class i really enjoy and look forward to attending but I just can't stay awake.

Exactly what I was going to say... Try cutting out sugar in any form, just doing that did wonders for my energy. I used to be the same as you... now I dont really get sleepy untill its time for bed!

Actually, i find that i need sugar. After my martial arts practice, i generally tend to get a little light-headed until i get some sugar in me. However, my diet generally doesn't include too much sugar however, just the occasion foods that i eat just for the sugar when my head becomes light. I just started to excercise now that me and my roomates have a free weight set in my apartment.

I try to eat decently but i know my diet's a little meat heavy. Any suggests for a fairly easy to maintain diet for a hungry, money strapped college student?

That used to happen to a lot, and then I changed my eating habits and also started to go to bed on time consistently (key word consistently). IE always going to bed around 9pm (hey thats right about now!). Prior, my sleep schedule would fluctuate, I would go to bed anytime between 11pm and 3am and it would always hurt right during the middle of the day.

I goto sleep around 12 or 1. I think thats pretty reasonable for a CS student 😛

I really can't goto sleep before that. Its just inconcievable. Not to mention it wouldn't matter since my body has a nasty habit of not listeing to me and falls asleep an hour or more after i want to goto sleep. Treacherous thing

Studies show that humans were designed for naps. It hits especially hard after meals. We idiots of course try to make our bodies fit a physiological illogical lifestyle. If possible, take that cat nap. If not then try to walk it off.

Yep, at work I wanna go home and sleep so bad but when I get home I get reenergized and stay up late. The cycle repeats itself.

Yeah, I sometimes get extremely tired in the middle of the day. Not a good thing when you work in a high school and are the sole computer support guy for an entire building of teachers, students, administrators, etc.

However, I'd love to know how to keep my schedule from fluctuating. As of recent, we have had some extreme emergencies at work, and I have been working a LOT of overtime. Hopefully, that will calm down shortly.

All summer I was on a night-shift schedule... slept during the day, and was awake at night (heh, I feel that I'm more productive at night, and my boyfriend works afternoon shift, so we always went out late at night). It's hard to adjust.

I dunno what to do about my schedule. I am so overworked, both at my 'work' and other places, it's not even funny.

I'm not even able to eat a meal before this starts to kick in. I dont generally get time for lunch until 1:30 or 2.
