Does anyone else find getting up for the 9-5 shift impossible?

I don't know if I'm weird, but I find the 9-5 shift nearly impossible to wake up for. It doesn't matter in the slightest when I go to bed... 10, 11, 1... I'm totally wiped.

The strangest part is I find our 7-3 shift easy as pie to wake up for. My alarm goes off at 530am and I'm usually up without a problem even with a short sleep.

nope, I usually make it into work by 8:45 am without issue.

just ignore the fact that I'm actually scheduled to start at 8 ;)

I find from about 6ish to 9ish my body just wants to sleep. It doesn't matter what time I go to bed or how long I've slept. I work third shift right now, which is usually 11:30 pm to 8:30 am. Right around 6 am, I start dragging, and I'm home by 9am in which I pep back up (coincidence, I assure you :) ).

It was like this on my last job when I was working 6:30 am to 3 pm. Until sometime after 9 am rolled around, it was very difficult to focus.

You'd think if it was me dragging because I had just woken up, I'd be affected once I got into work now at 11:30, but that's not the case. For some reason, that AM time block is the nemesis of my biological clock.

I'm useless between 5:30 AM and 10:00 AM. My work hours are theoretically 7:30 - 16:00.... which is completely stupid. If it were 10:00 to 18:00, I'd be *much* more productive.

Nope. Although at one of my old jobs I had no issues at all getting up in time for a 9 am shift but tons of problems getting up in time for a 7:45 shift. I was in college though and irresponsible about when I went to bed.

Stick to a schedule and it's not hard at all. In the past few months I've been getting to bed earlier (between 10:30 and 11:30) and getting up just before 7 every day no problem. It also helps that my wife recently got a job with consistent hours - no more getting up early some days and getting to sleep in other days. That just sucks.

I PT at 5am so, no.

But I would hate to do 9 to 5 simply cuz of the traffic. It would drive me nuts.
Last job I had was 6 to 2, which was sweet. Whole afternoon to myself. Usually stopped by Hollywood (I didnt trust netflix back then) and the nearby grocery store for some fresh fruit or something. Good times.

Who works 9-5 these days? Hard to imagine getting a full day's work done in that time TBH.

I nearly quit my job when I went to mornings (8-5. We don't get paid lunch). Now I couldn't imagine working late again. Although I now work 8:30-5:30 so I can get lil rudeguy to school.

Our hours are 0730-1630 but I work 0600-1430. I have no problem with getting up for either.

Meh I've ruined myself, working 12 hour shifts. I work 3 days a week, do one day of overtime time every other week and enjoy the extra time off. Usually work 11a-11pm or 7a-7p. Pretty nice

I work this schedule as well, except at night. I go to work at 6pm and get off at 6am. I work 3 days on and 4 off then the next week 4 days on and 3 days off. It's a killer only because I have to switch from sleeping during the day to sleeping at night and back again in a short 3-4 day window.

I work a 9 on 5 off schedule with 12-hour weekends. But, I'm permitted to tack on an extra hour every day so I get 8 on 6 off. Having so much time off in a row every other week nearly feels like a vacation. I find I'm much more relaxed coming back to work vice just having a weekend off. By the time I"m starting to unwind in a classic 5/2/5/2 work week, I have to get ready for work again.

I just have a hard time getting up in the morning at all. I could sleep 10 hours but have a hard time getting up at 7. Let me get up at noon and I only need about 4 hours or so and I roll out of bed fully awake.

I dunno, people who like the idea of sticking to a single schedule every weekday instead of having to work late one night and then early the next morning?

Getting up period is a bunch of bullshit.

Leave me the fuck alone until I have coffee in me.

Needless to say...not a morning person.

I work 7-4, and it sucks. I simply can't fall asleep on my own at 10. Even if I dredge through being dead tired all day, I'm not capable of falling asleep at 10. If I could get 9- or even 10- I'd be a much more functional person at work.
