Does anyone else feel like the Moto 360 is taking entirely too long to show up?

I know we've seen bits of this Android Wear device. Screenshots, some hands on stuff on various sites and from developers. However, I'm starting to grow impatient here. I've held off purchasing a new watch (I regularly wear one) because I was waiting to see how this actually looked and functioned. I am interested in Android Wear because I have started using Google Now and find it very useful. First it was summer, then they say late summer, and here it is almost mid August and nothing. No price announcement, no official specs, no release date announced, no pre-orders...nothing.

I'm interested in smart watches and really liked the looks of this from the pictures I've seen, but maybe it's me but it feels like it's taking too long. Anyone else feel this way a bit? Like maybe they revealed it too early and now it's been a few months with almost no solid info except the charger and the round design. I am super close to just ordering a LG G Watch and giving up on the waiting, but somehow I keep pulling myself back from that option.

I'm an impatient person too... but on this, I'm good on waiting. There really is no smart watch out right now that I want to buy. Motorola has the luxury of taking as much time as it takes to get it right.

Except if Apple announces theirs before we have pricing and release info from Motorola, then they undoubtedly lose some sales. I just feel like maybe they did a disservice to reveal it so long ago. Might have been better off to wait until it was actually closer.

Nope...it'll arrive when it's ready. They basically teased it, much like a movie teaser trailer. As it gets closer to launch I expect to see hands-on reviews and whatnot and that will actually make me expect its imminent release. As of right now I don't think of it week to week...I just know in the back of my head that it's coming out "soon".

The way Apple moves though, I'd be very very surprised if we saw an "iWatch" this year.

I suspect the Moto 360 probably isn't too far off.

I thought everyone knew all along that it would be late summer?

They said summer 2014 way back in March. Then after the Google conference when they revealed that the LG and Samsung watches would be out that day, they also showed the Moto 360 and said "late summer". I guess a lot of people were kind of booing and moaning about that one. They knew about it for months prior and to see it still not ready was kind disappointing maybe.

I know I'm starting to feel like it won't even be out in the summer. Fall starts on September 22. Guess it's just me *shrug*

Waiting is fine, but I'm worried that there's something inherently wrong that forced them to keep pushing it back. I see that pretty much everyone from Google have been wearing one for months, so it couldn't be something simple that made them held it back. Or , they're trying to squeeze this cool new feature in it that just couldn't get ready. Eh, I don't know...

Yeah who knows. It just seems like it has been a long time since we first got a glimpse of it.

I am close to buying a new watch. Smart or mechanical, dunno for sure.

Well, this is an off-topic question but hopefully the OP will forgive me:

How do you wear Google glass if you already wear prescription glasses?

I'm expecting an unveiling (probably alongside the Moto X+1) in early September.

As for the Moto 360 timing, I think it's both to sync up with the phone and to make sure that the device comes across well. It's pretty clear that LG and Samsung did what they do best: rushing to be the first, whether or not the tech was ready. A circular display, simple wire-free charging and pretty industrial design take time.

That said, I think folks could be disappointed. Android Wear won't have advanced much by the time the 360 ships, so all the problems will persist: the flood of notifications (unless you spend a lot of time disabling things), the tough-to-reach app section battery life concerns and more. A September launch also stands a good chance of being overshadowed. Even if Apple doesn't put out a smartwatch then, the company is going to dominate the tech news cycle for most of the month... and again in October, when I suspect Apple will unveil its watch alongside new iPads and Macs.
