Does anyone actually save money combining insurance?

Every insurance agent I talk too, including my own, bring up the "big discount" for combining my auto and home policies...but after shopping around, the companies usually either had crappy auto insurance rates that were slightly less crappy with the discount, or the same thing only with the home insurance side.

Is this just a talking point for insurance companies to try and upsell you? I see no big discounts.

I have a pretty decent discount with State Farm. I looked at trying to insure a newly acquired vehicle through a different company, and the rates were much higher.

I do see a difference combining my auto and home owners insurance under one company. Seperately will cost me a few hundred dollars more.

Weird. State farm is my HOI company, they only offered a $90 discount for combined. And the same coverage cost like $120 more for 6 months.

Geico is my car insurance and the home owners insurance cost twice as much as state farm with the combined discount.

Yes, it is worth it. With Allstate, I think the discount now for having H&A is about 20% on the home and about 15% on the auto. For toys, it also is a nice discount as well.
