Does anyone actually find MS Word Autoformat helpful!??!?!

Eh, if you work in Word enough the keystrokes to eliminate the autoformatting when you don't want it come without thinking, and the mouse movements to turn it on are a lot more inconvenient than hitting backspace to remove it. So, sort of, I guess.

What a timely post. Just last night I was ready to reach through the screen and off some programmers at MS. Telling Excel 2003 to stop autocorrecting spelling doesn't work. It insists on autocorrecting anyway because MS knows better than you what it is you are typing.

Tools / Autocorrect Options / Scroll down under the "Replace text as you type" box. Delete the corrections you don't want. Or just unclick the whole spelling checkbox.

95% of the time the Word Autoformat sucks. But I've just gotten accustomed to typing what I want, hitting enter, then backspace to undo the autocorrect feature. It is almost like it isn't there.
