Does anyone actually care if a presidential candidate smokes?

Off the top of my head, I can think of a long list of Presidents who smoked.

Anyway, I thought Obama quit.

I think he's been battling the evil nico-weed addiction, just as anyone who tries to quit does...supposedly he's finally quit, but...

Smoking is not a social inflection or craze as it once was . Now the image is death and dirt.

Self-image is, imo, most of what people vote for in a president. Their views on politics and policies are also manifested from their self-image.

To make a short story shorter; I would like to vote for a 400 LBS, 3 pack a day habit, six-pack drinking white male because that man would truly believe what this country is made out of now.

While I do not disagree with you, people really need to get their priorities in check when it comes to voting.

On another forum someone said they were concerned about Obama because he reminds them of the antichrist character from the Left Behind series of books. WTF?!

.....and on that note whenever I see hippies I am reminded of the Hitler because his birthday is on 4/20 and hippies also like to drive VW bugs.

Unbelievable.

I do. Tobacco companies are evil---to get a president that buys their products isn't exactly the one I'd want in charge of health care reform.

If he uses toilet paper to wipe his ass, does that make him look vulnerable to the paper industry as well?

Now that is a bit unfair. There are a lot of people out there who are smokers, but realize how important health care is.

Since everyone knows that smoking is bad for a person's health, not being able to quit is a sign of mental weakness to me.

However on the flip side, if the president was a heavy smoker, theres a better chance that he/she would die mid term, thus giving the VP a chance to run things for a while. If the presidency was going good the VP could continue it, and if it was going bad the VP could do a course change.

Pros and cons I guess.

Or he is simply choosing not to quit *shrug*

it is an issue though, sadly. same thing as people that vote based on the candidate they want to have a beer with. until people stop being stupid, we will get stuck with people like bush.

Back when Bill Clinton ran the first time, a friend of mine told me his grandmother was going to vote for Clinton because "Arkansas is a beautiful state". Most people don't realize that Arkansas was a flat, barren wasteland before Clinton became the Governor.

American's didn't even care that George Bush fried his brain with coke, why would they care if Obama is frying his lungs with cigarettes?

Is toilet paper harmful? Does the toilet paper industry lobby to make a harmful product more readily available and make its health risks less apparent? 😕

Churchill once said, "The greatest argument against democracy is a five minute conversation with the average voter."

or something very similar.
