There's been only one beta. There was at least one public build before beta 1 and one after, but only one beta. And Firefox has worked fine on every build I've used.

Hmm.

I haven't been paying much attention, & i think you know more than i do...

But i know i've seen more than just one other version "released" on my "sites"
I'm gonna guess the ones i've seen aren't actually official betas, i would assume.

MSDN Members (me), Technet Plus Members (Me Also), and early technology adopter programs all get the betas.

You're lucky than. The media center software wont even load for me (bombs out immediatly). Media center is one of the least stable components in 5231.

You sure you talking about 5231? I ask because I had the same issue as you in the build before that (5219?) but 5231 is great.

Yup, last time I tried it it brought up the intitial media center screen and than the app closed down on me (on my desktop). Havent tried it on my laptop.

EDIT: though I havent put much effort into it, I've heard a lot of the MS folks say that the media center components were still lacking so figured I would wait until the next build to do any messing with it.
