I'm on AT&T cable (formerly TCI here), and as much as I wish I could complain about it (I hate Cable Companies), I gotta say it's been great. The speed test on dslreports usually gives me 2.5 - 3 megabits down (128 uplink).

I think the quality of the service is going to vary, depending on which company owned the system before AT&T bought 'em out. I have a couple friends on AT&T (formerly MediaOne) in some other suburbs....the bandwidth is moderately good-to-poor, and their services (mail, news, web)disappear for days without explanation (sometimes AT&T/MediaOne doesn't even admit there's a problem).

Good luck, I hope you get a good one......

i used at&t worldnet dial-up for about 4 years, and it always worked great...now i've been on at&t cable modem for about 2 years and the quality has shot up exponentially since i first got it....i really have no complaints these days...but i can't speak for the service through the entire country...though i'm sure it's getting better everywhere.

EDIT: my only complaint is that the ATT mail servers suck and are always going down, so i'm happy i don't USE my @home e-mail account! but the rest of the service is good IMO

For businesses, AT&T's MIS (Managed Internet Service) is pretty nice. They monitor your circuit, manage your IP space, and will even call you when you've outgrown your bandwidth. Good for a small business that doesn't have personnel to do this.
