It is not as weird as it sounds, actually. There is a file on the internet that I need to print - actually it is a book for a class, about 200 pages, and I REFUSE to read 200 pages sitting at my computer. So, I thought I would be all smart and go print it and have it bound at Kinko's. NO GO. I went to print it and the dang thing is locked and says it CAN'T be printed. (I even tried, he he) Is there a way around that?? Somebody help me pleeease!

Nothing I can think of except alot of Print Screening!

That's what I would have said...Are you accessing the file directly? If not, get to it's source and try from there.

Also, I'd like the link to see what I can try to do...BTW, by helping you, I'm assuming that you're not trying to do anything illegal here...

If the owner of the file restricted printing and put a password on it, then there's no way you can LEGALLY print the document... you can, however, find a program that will strip the security off the PDF file... I won't mention the program, though.

Sorry. I'd recommend contacting the author of the file and requesting a special copy of it without the Print restriction.

There is a website that will convert most file types. I know it will convert .DOC to .PDF and vice versa. I will find the link in a minute. If you can convert it to a DOC file you will be set.

Anybody else know this special security stripping software? I am not about to sit here and read a book on the computer! I can't learn that way! I need it in my hands, I need to highlight and underline and take note on the page and stuff...you know...it's for my own good!

No, at least not that I know of.

This question is analogous to "Does anybody know how to unlock a locked door?"

The answer is that the file was specifically protected from printing, so the authors don't want you to print it. So don't print it.
Let's try to respect the author of the PDF a little.

Thanks for your advice gigacluster, but, to a certain extent, I already figured it out. (I must admit that I didn't figure it out, rather I was told how to - can't take credit for something I didn't do!)
