here's the thing: Actel has an internship/coop program that I am applying to. I'm currently in Toronto (they hire mainly from UofT according to their site), and I would do anything to go to CA (for a variety of reasons).

So what I'm asking for is a referal that I can put on my cover letter and if I get the job, I'd owe you big time.
 
errrr... no offense but why the heck would someone that doesn't know you give you a reference? Doesn't that defeat the entire puprpose of the referral?
