OutHouse

Lifer
the guy has been on the radio doing his stupid sports show for a long time. i can not figure out who listens to his crap. i cant stand his tone, demeanor or the stupid metaphors he throws in every other sentence.

so show of hands who follows this prick?

as an added bonus, here he is a few years ago getting his ass kicked by Jim Everett all because he wouldn't back down from calling Jim Everett, Chris Everett (the woman tennis player)

I don't listen to him, but I remember that clip and it's hilarious as Rome has such a shit-eating grin on his face as he continues calling Everett "Chris".

I listen to him. At first I hated him, then I started to like him. He definitely is an acquired taste. He has a lot of inside jokes that you won't understand unless you listen to the program on a regular basis.

Been listening to him for over 12 years now. He's really the only one who talks hockey on a national stage.

It's either him or the honks at ESPN. And I'd rather hear it from Rome than the talking heads there.

I'm not a regular listener, though it is on occasionally when I drive home for lunch. His interviews are usually pretty good. They're not Bob Costas serious interviews but he doesn't take himself too seriously and has some really funny athlete guests. His rants and other bits are very hit-or-miss, some of them are great but a lot of them suck. His callers are awful, the whole "I'm going to script a call all about talking shit about some other caller" thing is just stupid.

His TV shows have always been bad.

If you want some funny, try to find the archive segment from 2002 or so of Rome and his crew mocking Allen Iverson's mom and her background posse after that interview they did in her car. That was classic comedy radio. CHEW IT!

Same here, but I only listen to him on his TV show now, gave up on his radio show. I like how he's contrarian to a lot of popular topics, and he can be funny at times.

I have a mixed opinion on him... he is a real doucher.. .but thats why I probably like him haha

Listening to him is obnoxious if only because he basically says something different every single day and it's always some sort of 'extreme' to get attention. Last year during the NBA season every Laker's loss was a herald of their destruction and every Laker's win was a symbol of their redemption and he just went back and forth.

You mean you dont like Barry Melrose 😱

He's a blohard if there ever was one, a class-A jock sniffer.

Didn't hear about this one, deserves an @ss-kicking from the old man:

In 1997, hockey legend Gordie Howe announced an attempt to play a shift with the International Hockey League's Detroit Vipers, which would allow Howe to claim having played professional hockey in six decades. Rome challenged the 69-year-old ex-hockey star, offering a bounty of $3,000 to any player on the team playing against the Vipers to take Howe out of the game permanently by saying, "Putting this old fool back to reality." Howe and his wife threatened Rome with a lawsuit, and the bounty went away.

He's the reason I got XM radio... I was sick and tired of hearing him at 9AM on on fox sports LA.... On Foxsports XM though it is Jim Rome free...

The guy is a complete douche who is always talking in third person... I wish Jim Everett had laid into him with a few hay-makers though 🙂

If you want to listen to the Jerry Springer of sports radio. Listen to the Paul Finebaum show on XM or online. It's a bunch of Alabama rednecks talking Alabama/Auburn/SEC football 365 days a year. A couple of weeks ago they discussed for 3 days the passed out LSU fan that got tea bagged by the AL fan at the Krystal on Bourbon St. after the Nat. Champ Game. It was comedy gold.
Link to video tea baggage. NSFW obviously

Found myself listening to Scott Ferrall last night on the way home. I've listened Rome a bit here and there but never on a regular basis.

Meh, never really cared for him. His show actually was just removed in the Houston market. If I want to list to a narcissistic blowhard, I'll turn on Dino Costa.

Uhhhh, Rome is part of ESPN

Thats why his show is on ESPN and ESPN Radio

Yeah, the guys at ESPN are no good. The worst one is that jackass who hosts "Jim Rome is Burning;" what a complete tool that guy is.

Seriously though, Jim Rome is annoying. His schtick got old 20 years ago. I don't get the intentionally antagonistic "let's see how big a douche I can be today" style of programming. I mean, I guess some people like that; it explains the careers of lots of successful pundits. I just don't personally get the appeal of it.

Think he's w/ CBS now actually- got a new show w/ them.

I don't love him but would watch his TV show occasionally.

He's still with ESPN as far as his TV show is concerned, but as of April 1st or somewhere around that time he'll be wth CBS.
