I've had my altec lansing ACS-340's for several years now and they've been developing more and more problems as time goes on. I've always thought the sound they produce is excellent for music, and I don't want to be disappointed if I get new speakers. so I was wondering if anybody still has some old 340's and knows how their sound quality compares to some current speakers in the $30-70 range.

I have the 340s. They're pretty good speakers.

If you can dig up a little bit more for speakers then I think you'd really like the Yamaha YST-MS50 speakers for music. They have a little more lower-bass extension and it's more controlled as well. They also have seperate mids/tweeters.

NewEgg usually has them in white and black for $91 and $96 shipped, respectively.
Fry's/Outpost stocks them for $120. :Q

no those are too expensive for me
btw I got the 340's for $50 on sale at fry's 4 years ago. that was great
