I haven't looked at a video card for months and bought a retail radeon 64mb card a couple months ago just assuming it would be good enough for my 1250mhz cpu. I hate the card and am having major troubles with the way it renders allot of games and this even after looking at every damn faq I can find.

Im giving it one more chance on my new mb with a fresh install of win98se this week but I doubt I'll keep the card.

so I start looking at video cards and see the geforce ultra and assume its the best but I get the impression its just a souped up geforce card that will help run higher resolutions(Im still finding I would like 1024x768 32 bit color with all options on to be the sweet spot), so I don't know if the ultra is actually a good buy and would make for faster games at this resolution over other cards thus a waste of money?

I hear about the nv20 and rampage but cannot find anything but rumours on sites even searching in here so I just wonder if I should spend $410 on a ultra now and leave my computer alone or is their a new card coming out in january that I should wait for(price isn't a factor, I want the best within a couple months and won't touch it for a year)

thanks for any info. i hate getting burned and its hard as hell to find information online.

Buy a GTS2 Pro from bummer for $259 ---> Pro

I have one of these and it does 240/480 which is equivalent to the Ultra. If you play a waiting game for new cards to come out, there will be always more on the horizon. You could probably sell that Radeon for $200 and it would only be a $60 upgrade. I doubt the NV20 or Rampage will be out before March/April anyways (no idea thoough).

ps - my GTS Pro does 100fps in Q3A 1024x768x32 highest quality settings and my cpu is a Duron 600 @ 1050

What games? From the clock speed I see your running a TB? Radeons usually run great with some TLC on most KT boards.

I assume you've followed the faqs at rage3d, so I'll not mention a litany of things to check to fix your problem.

But my AIW runs perfect after a few tweaks, with a 900MHz TB and 256MB I can get about 60 FPS @1280x1024 with all options on Deus Ex. I've only seen Ex look better on a V5 and, personnally, I'm a little jealous... but I'm not giving up my awesome DVD playback!

Don't buy nVIDIA, they are crapping out the card industry (raw power versus features). Just hold on to your Radeon and buy a RAMPAGE in about 4 months or so...that's what I'm planning on.

Nobody know anything about next gen cards it's still pure speculation. If they were anounced tomorrow I think you could get one in 4-6 weeks.

you know i find that with the radeon the few message boards I have found many people have allot of various problems with the card, over little issues with nvidia or 3dfx cards, I think thats a fact.

And many also say they have no problems, mine are so bad and visible when you sit down to play games Im done with it. I have followed every faq I have found with options and for my mb also and was just pissed off. maybe my problems are on some other level but I cannot find out where.

I guess I'm gonna wait cause I don't want to be stupid. I have the money but the ultra seems to be a stupid buy. And I have the radeon 64mb right here. Im gonna be getting my msi motherboard tomorrow cause I hate the kt7 anyways, and start fresh and hopefully all will be well with the radeon.

shoot maybe my system is doing something wierd although my geforce is performing better? I have usb mouse and keyboard, soundblaster live platinum 5.1 with live driver, kenwood 72x cd rom, tdk burner, 512mb crucial pc 133 ram, ibm deskstar 30gb, 450 watt power supply. retail 1ghz cpu, 5 small case fans, then cpu loud ass fan.
