I remember back in the day Pricewatch was THE place to go to find a great deal on hardware. Nowadays it's just filled with bogus sellers, misleading ads, and ancient prices. Does anybody still use it?

Still a very useful site.

I used to think that too and then I figured out that Zipzoomfly has the same stuff and is sometimes cheaper by quite a bit AND tends to offer free 2 Day shipping on the more popular items.

i.e. Chaintech VNF4 Ultra Socket939 Motherboard: Zipzoomfly $79.99, Newegg $95.50

I use it just to get a quick ball park figure for something. If I find someone I've never heard of then I head over to ResellerRatings.com to check them out.

i do look there ... when i want to buy something from the ATF/S forums, i see a bunch of sellers who actually think that taking 10% of an item that they have used to 6 months is a good deal....

so i check pricewatch.com to see the absolute cheapest it is going for, so ican judge what stuff is really worth. I dont buy from there, but use it as a guide.

I am a loyal ZZF customer.

:)

No, because I no longer build computers, and NewEgg/ZipZoomFly/Ebay are good enough anyway.

Yes, quite often.

EDIT: oh wait, I was thinking Pricegrabber. My new answer is no :p

I use Pricewatch, Froogle, and Pricegrabber all fairly regularly. Some catch what others miss.

You only get scammed if you're too lazy to check ResellerRatings before you buy, in which case you learn a much-deserved lesson.

Yes, but ZZF uses UPS, which for a lot of people == smashed items. What goos is a smashed mobo?

ZZF offers FedEx 2-Day which, in this case, is free.

Pricegrabber.com + resellerrating.com = Dynamic Duo of find good deals from reputable establishments.

Almost too good...

I lost faith when I noticed pricewatch had some sinister sellers listed. I'm looking at you Komusa. Which does nothing to protect the consumer. Lots of false advertising as well, IE bogus listings to get the cheapest price slot.

Don't hate the shipper, hate the company. If we transport smashed packages they should have been better packed to begin with ;)

And for me, I don't use pricewatch anymore, it got old quickly.
