Prepare to ween

I have this keyboard. You can switch back and forth from QWERTY to Dvorak with the push of a button. It has the Dvorak layout on it, and QWERTY in little letters. I like it. It's very comfortable.

I have a hard enough time typing on a QWERTY keyboard. 🙂
My wife has one of the Microsoft "Natural" split keyboards and that is a nightmare for me.
The DVORAK board would kill me... 🙂

kendogg, a Dvorak keyboard has the most common letters right under your fingers with the less common letters on the harder to reach keys. This means you can type a bit faster than on a standard QWERTY layout keyboard.

I've often wondered how difficult it would be to get and switch to a Dvorak keyboard? Anybody have any experiences with it?

i have an old keyboard, i popped off the letters and made my own dvorak keybaord.. i dont use it very often, but its fun to have around.

If you really know how to type, then who needs letters on the keycaps anyway? Load your favorite keyboard layout, and there you go 🙂

I'm staying with qwerty for now, and have increased my typing speed by quite an impressive margin by using a real ergo keyboard ... Datadesk Smartboard it is, light keypress and no left hand finger bending staggered keys lineup. You wouldn't believe how much faster and more accurate you get as soon as the left hand fingers move in more natural directions too.

Old IBM keyboards are cheap and they let you pop off the letters and switch them around .. I have had my custom Dvorak yor about a Year ...

I think Im still a bit faster with a QWERTY ... however if i type with just my left hand and use the mouse with the other ... Dvorak is much quicker than qwerty

LOL! Just load up a Keyboard Config Program, and get a flat screwdriver and switch the keys. What a waste of money.

I tried learning dvorak a while back, but didn't keep going (which reminds me that I should start practicing again). The method I used was just to switch the keyboard layout in the Language Settings, and not look at the keys on my QWERTY keyboard to keep myself from screwing up. 🙂

i was thinking about trying to learn dvorak once...but im too lazy, and my wife would kill me if i changed keyboards/setups on her, or shed go nuts and id be part of an accidental death, and those arent pretty....read of several people who have gone to dvorak and typed noticably faster though

as for ms naturals...bah to you, i like split keyboards, big as all hell though, but i type alot better on them
