Does an IBM trackpoint work in linux w/o setup?

Will I have to install special modules to get my trackpoint working in most distro's, e.g. Red Hat, or do I need to do something special. Thanks.
 
I have an old school trackpoint keyboard, and I don't recall any problems doing the install.. wait, or is that because the install was ansi???? hmmm....
