Does AMDZone make your computer and browser choke?

Whenever I go there, my computer and browser choke and get vewy vewy chunky ;) Task Manager blasts 100% CPU utilization and scrolling chugs along. Every other site is fine. Seems that it got bloated after their site redesign and they added that ticker stuff as well. As soon as you close out the site, Task Manager drops back down beloe 10% and everything is back to normal.

Lotsa Java stuff, though it loads in a second or two on my cable connection using IE 5.5. My resource meter drops 5% which is normal for a new window.

Its probably optimized for the Pentium 3.

Remember, the Pentium 3 makes your internet experience better by making is faster, in 3D, and with more colors. I wouldn't surf the internet without it. You should just throw your piece of junk out the window and piss on it because thats all its worth for browsing with on the internet.

(hehe. I have an Athlon 850 and it gets choppy at the top too)

It is a little sluggish on my P3 (music for Pentium 3's) so it appears to be a bloated site.

HAHAHA I doubt it is optimized for PIII. They refuse to even say the word Intel on that site. It runs fine on my comp, and it's a trashy K6 233.

lol @ P3 optimized

I have no problems at all, CPU usage goes up to around 50% maybe but it's smooth and doesn't chug at all.

what browser are you using? Nutscrape......well, you know :D I use IE 5.01

I don't know about CPU utilization (because I'm running rc5), but It scrolls nice and smooth for me.

works fine on my celeron 450A with netscape 4.5 and a 56K modem, takes about as long as anadtech's main page to load...

Fast enough. Pentium Overdrive 83MHz and 24MB EDO RAM and 20.5GB Quantum LM. Page is a little bit choppy, but lots of pages are equally choppy. Loads pretty fast, I'm connected at 48k.

Man, that's pretty scary - some of you have as much as 512MB of SDRAM and 500-1000MHz processors, and it's LAGGING????? WTF? Makes me have second thoughts about upgrading.

-RSI

PS: On this 24MB EDO I have Win95b, ICQ99, IE5 (2 windows) and sygate3 all running.. woohoo, EDO-power! :p

3.864Ghz? Russ, is that expressed in dog Ghz??

Just a quick question for those with slow-loading times. Is your temporary internet files cache near full? For those with very fast connections, is it loading from cache?

Anyway, just tried it for the first time with Netscape 4.73 and it is just a quick as anything else (about as fast as IE5 - slightly quicker loading time than AnandTech's homepage).

By the way that Pentium 3 thing was a JOKE. Remember the ad campaign saying it speeded up the internet and turned it into what it was supposed to be, etc?

athlon 700 on k7m here w/ win2k running (33.6 modem)

loaded just fine... not the speed but the load on the system. cpu usage never went about 10-15%. when i scroll, goes up to 50-60 and a 90 or so for 1-2 sec. then back down the hill... stable at around 10% ;)

btw. i wouldn't be surprised if it had to do with the fact that some of you are runnign ie 5.5 (which is still beta version) i've noticed netsape might take a while to load but once loaded, it is much faster than ie... won't be seen on a system faster than 233-266 but still a possibility.

It seems fine here at 31200 on my Celery 366@550 in both 98SE and Win 2k Pro. I am using a 56K hardware USR internal modem. I wonder if it is something to do with that site and your Software modem? I know sometimes on my other system with a Lucient LT Winmodem things get a bit choppy on some pages and don't here on the other system. I hope this does not start another hardware/software modem war! :D

Russ, that kicks ass :)

No problems here on my (mom's) brand new Athlon 700, K7V w/128MB RAM
Cable modem.
edit: forgot to mention that I'm using netscape navigator 4.08 standalone. :)
