I find that interesting, I'm trying to lose weight and in the last 3 of 4 days, I gained 1.5 lbs with an intake of 1500-1700 calories. I've been using livestrong.com to help track my calorie intake and will have to check out the protein and carbohydrate intake. 18 lbs down, 37 to go...

You most likely either gained weight due to normal fluctuation or due to the fact that you actually aren't eating enough. If you are eating such few calories (1500-1700 calories is not enough even if trying to lose weight), your body kills your metabolism and acts as if you are starving. As a result, you retain and can actually gain weight very easily. You need to up your calories. Read the fat loss sticky posted at the top of these forums for more info.
