Does a WAP act more like a switch or a hub?

Basicaly does each port get it's own 11Mb or do all of the computers share the 11Mb? And is it a full or half duplex setup?

As stated by Tallgeese in other thread.

Layer 2 = Switch/bridge = Deals with a flat address space, in this case hardware/MAC addresses
Layer 1 = Hubs = Deals with physical connectivity primarily.

=======================

I would say WAP is Layer 1.5

HUB + other luvin

the layer 1.5 thing is right on .... layer 1 hubbing and distribution, with mac filtering thrown in (layer 2). So like a smart layer1 hub.

That kind of cross-layer functionality is VERY common...and happening more and more often in newer devices, albeit usually in lower-end devices (where people need certain key functions to operate, but multiple devices is impractical, both from the perspective of $$$ and configuration).

I'd prolly argue that WAP is only a 1.2...but who am I to quibble over a couple of decimal points? :D
