I'm pretty sure the stove still works - just manually ignite the burners. The oven, on the other hand, nope.

most gas ovens auto turn off the gas when the power goes out because if the pilot light goes out you are fucked

And electricity is needed to keep a pilot flame burning because...?

Most modern gas appliances use a piezo ignition which needs electric, but as JLee noted, this can be sidestepped with a simple lighter, match or other firemaking deivce.

Pretty much, I loled when that big blackout happened. It's middle of summer, around supper time, and the power goes out. OMG WHAT DO WE DO?!?

Same thing we would of done if the power was on, cook up some burgers on the BBQ!
