Seems like there are no longer any people who can tear it up like in the old days. Are things just really secure now, or can people still break into government files and whatnot?

There never were "SuperHackers," the systems they were cR4x0rZing 😛 just had little or no security, and companies had no concept of using a paper shredder on documents that posed a security risk.

Why glorify vandals anyway? They mostly used what coding skills they had to perform the virtual equivalent of throwing a brick through a window or spray painting a wall.

The real hackers were people like Steve Wozniak, Dan Bricklin and Richard Garriot, who used their skills to create something new, and in the generation after them people like John Carmack.

To be honest. Alot of people that think they are hackers these days simply are not.
