does a SUN monitor work with PC's??

do Sun monitors, as a rule, work ok with PC's or are there major differences in connectors, cables, frequencies etc??

yesterday i saw what i thought was a fantastic deal on a brand-new 18.1" Sun TFT LCD... equivalent of US$ 360... but i couldn't tell if it would work with a regular PC...

You would want a DVI connection, so just look for that.

I've only used SUN CRT monitors -- if it uses the SUN video input, you'll need an adapter (no idea on cost/availability; my company got them direct from SUN, and it was probably a huge ripoff). If it uses DVI, it should work fine with a PC.

okay... the guy is back with a few more ... the model number is LSA800, and the specs say it comes with the HD-15 connector and is PC compatible... does US$375 sound like a hot deal ? or is this the usual price?

sorry I have never dealt with Sun equipment before o I know very little about where to even look ...

Don't know about their recent monitors, but the Sun monitors I've used in the past have generally been of a very high quality, in which case it sounds cheap to me.

Older Sun workstation CRTs are more than likely fixed-frequency, and use a 13W3 connector, but neither of those should apply to a modern LCD. That sounds like a good deal, if it has an HD15 connector it's most likely multi-sync VGA compatible.

I would check monitor specs before buying this. It's entirely possible these things were designed for workstation/graphic editing use in mind so the monitor might not have very good refresh rates or response time. If you're going to be using this for gaming, those are very big factors you might want to consider. For 375..... that's seems way too good to be true.
