Does a noise reduction chip in a MP3 player make a big difference.

Hello. I am looking for a new MP3 player. My SanDisk Sansa Clip+ is going to die soon I think. The battery will not last as long as it use to and it seems like the battery life is getting shorter and shorter. I have been looking around and fount some with a noise reduction chip. That noise reduction chip is suppose to be better, higher sample rate. Can you actually hear the difference? Does that chip make a big difference. This is the one I am looking at https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D6KWPCY

OK, I looked at all the details of that player you linked to, and I don't see anything that says "noise reduction chip".

I see that it claims to have "has DSP audio decoding IC, dual DAC decoding for excellent sound reproduction". Is that what you are referring to?

Anyways, all MP3 players in that price range are going to be about the same in quality. Just pick one with really good user reviews, and one that doesn't have a bad rating on FakeSpot (which the brand you linked to has a C rating for likely fake reviews).

I see.

That's just them using marketing buzz terms to make it sound fancy. Hardware quality will be the same for any of those type of players in the price range you linked to (under $40).

I usually don't use sites like this to recommend products, but since most of the well known companies left the MP3 player market a while ago, maybe some of their recommended budget units (some in which they state they actually reviewed) might work for you:

I have no experience with AGPTEK (or even heard of them before), but it seems like it is their most recommended unit, so that is one you can look into if you like.

I was wanting to keep the price under $100. I was also looking at Sony NWE395/B. I have seen AGPTEK on several sites. Thank you for the link. That AGPTEK A01T has one of them chips in it. But if that noise reduction chip is just marketing BS then I will just ignore it lol.

BTW thank you for FakeSpot. I have ran across other sites like that before but never knew much about them or put much thought into them. Now I will.

If I personally going to buy a MP3 player, I would buy one from a manufacturer that I was familiar with (like Sony, Sandisk, FiiO, etc.)

Take a look at what B&H Photo sells. They sell several units that will be under $100, and they offer free shipping on many of them.
List of MP3 Players priced low to high

They have the Sony unit you linked to above which would be a good choice in my opinion, and they also have a FiiO unit that I also think would be a good choice: FiiO M3K

They also have several lower-priced various versions of Sandisk players which would likely work for you as well.

What would you recommend for one under $150?

I personally don't think I would even go $100 for a MP3 anymore. I always use my phone for listening to music when needed (even though I still have a Sandisk Clip that still works), and if I needed something more than my phone could provide, I likely would go with one of the "high'-resolution" players when on sale from Sony, Pioneer, or possibly something like this: Sony Walkman

That said, I have some decently priced headphones, both Bluetooth and wired, and I just find I personally don't need a separate MP3 player anymore. I could only see using my Sandisk player again if I was going hiking or rock climbing, and I didn't want to risk damaging my phone.

"noise reduction chip in a MP3 player..."

Sounds like a gimmick to me.

You want a damn good portable? Fiio

Entry level model X1 (2nd gen) (I've had a 1st gen for almost 4 years) for $89.99 at Amazon US

For myself, I doubt I'd consider any other brand these days.
