I understood that with 2000 it appeared as 2 seperate processors, under XP does it just appear as one or should it appear as two also?

You can turn it on/off in the bios yeah?

I see....our onsite engineer seemed to think it did, i'll ask him to double check whats going on then.

But under Windows XP does it show up as 1 or 2 processors under windows?

Cheers,

Jamie

There are issues with 2000 and HyperThreading, so Intel doesn't support it.
EDIT: Under XP, it'll show 2 CPUs.

from what i understand, anything will do.
enabling HT is actually making your system slower. so i guess even normal benchmarks like 3dmark, UT, aquamark, will suffice.

none of those apps support HT.

Sandra Multimedia:

HT enabled 2.6C @ default
Int 19984
Float 28843

HT disabled via bios 2.6C @ default
Int 16209
Float 19093

Stupid question, I guess the answer is that it makes no difference. I know with SSE that when you have to reinstall windows, I take it with HT you can flick it on and off in the bios without any reinstalls.

I had troubles when i went from a northwood "b" to a northwood "c" on win2k when i upgraded. It wouldnt recognize HT until i did a format.

After the format i had no problems turning it on and off.
