Does a file saved to a network drive go through my computer?

My setup is home network with laptop and desktop using windows 7. Desktop has shared network drive.

If I am on laptop browsing internet and save file to the network drive does the file go directly to the network drive or does it first go through my laptop?

If it goes through my laptop which parts does it go through? Just cpu and ram of laptop? Would someone describe the path the file goes through?

file -> router -> laptop cpu/ram -> router -> desktop cpu/ram/hdd ?

It depends but on the laptop to the server:

Laptop CPU / RAM / Possible disk as a temp file / swapped -> NIC -> Switch buffers -> NIC -> Server RAM/CPU -> Server disk..
