Does a CRT Flatscreen exist?

First, if this is in the wrong forum, please direct me to the proper one. I did not see any forum that this could do under, so this feels appropriate.

Anyways, I was walking through Sam's Club yesterday and I had to stand in awe at their 50+ inch HD Flatscreen displays. Well, I saw several that were LCD as when I looked at them from a steep angle, I couldn't even make out what was on the TV. But there were a few that looked like CRT Flatscreens. Glass screen and a clear picture from every angle.

Now, the only reason I ask is because I was planning on building myself a new gaming computer here in the near future (all the parts are picked out and ready to buy), but I was planning on switching from my 22" Viewsonic CRT to a 24" Hanns G Widescreen LCD. I was debating heavily on the widescreen simply because I am often up doing things and I like to keep an eye on my computer screen (for RTSs/RPGs, Online gaming, messages from other people, etc.) and with an LCD, I cannot see what is going on if I am at an angle.

So, does anyone have any information/input or even some recommendations on these "CRT-looking" monitors? Just by the clarity and with it being a flat-panel, I can imagine it will be fairly pricey, but I was planning on spending at least $250 - $300 for a new monitor anyways.

FYI you mean CRT flat panel(which don't exist). CRT flat screens have been around for years.

Actually, at one point a flatpanel CRT prototype was created, but it was never sold. A combination of geometry problems inherent in the design, and the board of directors being too embarrassed to explain to their shareholders that they had blown a huge amount of R&D on making that thing. Unfortunately, I can't find the link to the webpage about this TV 🙁

Although technically even those are still curved, it's just that manufacturers got smart and the curvature is inside the tube, the external glass is flat. And Trinitrons don't have vertical curvature, only horizontal.

The screens you saw in Sams club are just LCD's or Plasma's with shiny glass over the panel and this can actually cause more of a problem then it solves due to reflection issues ... also for $300 you'll be extremely lucky to find a decent quality 24 inch flat panel of any type, never mind anything bigger.

Look on places like ebay for a 21" trinitron monitor under computers.
The screens are as flat as you can get for a crt and the quality of the display is very high.

Thanks for the information, but I already have a 24" Hanns G widescreen picked out. I was just wondering if there were any CRT-looking (apparently just the glass screen) monitors.
