Does 2 memory sticks installed side by side increase performance?

Does that speed up a computer?

My mobo has 3 slots for RAMS and I don't think a pair of mem sticks will speed up. Instead, I figure that the ram stick itself is already does that. Is that true?

Some mobo's use dual channel memory systems, you'll see a little improvement by using 2 separate sticks on those boards, however I 've heard that for overclocking , you're better off with one large stick. Just do a search for dual channel and/or nForce2 performance. AT had the nForce2 roundup a while back and I believe they addressed this issue.

hope it helps 😀

I heard that the SiS735 chipset runs somewhat faster with 2 sticks installed because it's able to access the two sticks at the same time but seperately or something like that...?

How do you know he has an nForce2 mobo?

I didn't say or assume that he has an nForce2 mobo, it's just the first that comes to mind with dual channel memory.......and dual channel is the only thing that I can think of that would give any performance increase by running 2 sticks. I believe there are also some Intel boards that support dual channel. But if I recall, you dont' really see a whole lot of increase in overall performance unless you're usuing the nForce's integrated graphics.
