Does 16.2 Vs 16.7 million colors

You mean 6bit vs 8bit?
For games, probably not.

The only reason I can see someone NEEDING an 8bit monitor is if they did photo editing or some kind of editing.

I have yet to test FEAR with my new monitor (now 8bit), Fear came out as being the worst looking on my old monitor.

Once I do I will know how well it was worth it.

I think it definitely matters. The banding and dithering become especially apparent in dark games. Although there will generally be a tradeoff in response time and other factors involved, so it may be worth it anyway.

The higher contrast your LCD, the more prominent banding will be. Dithering or FRC algorithms don't play a significant role in visual artifacts 95% of the time. In fact, a 6-bit fast LCD would experience less problems than a high quality IPS when it comes to gaming. But an 8-bit LCD with higher contrast will display more detail.
