Dodge Sucks!!!!!!!!! Neon Sucks!!!!!!!!

I dropped my parents off at the airport on their way off for a 4 week vacation. On the way back I was hit some really slow traffic (accident see below), when it cleared I started to open her up and noticed that the damn speedometer wont go up. I hit a bump, it went up and then fell down again.. that speedo is dead, not it wont come up one bit. I am afraid the "Check engine light" will soon greet me. I have a Haynes Repair manual. I will see if there is anything there to fix it.. otherwise I have to take it somewhere to get it fixed. This sucks. My toyota is in the shop, the saturn cant come out of the garage cause the garage door opener is stuck and the neon now has a broken speedo..

Just like that bentley that got rear ended by a ford explorer.. that driver of the ford is dead.. he hit a freaking bentley. :Q

hit the instrument panel. What year neon? Let me guess, 95 or 96. The instrument panel can be replaced for $30 by going to a junk yard buying one, and throwing it in. 95-99 model years will work.

Its a 1997 model I think (or maybe a 1998 bought in 1997). Its a 3 speed auto tranny.. (uck!)...

Its got about 71K miles and mom is the primary driver..

take off the top of the dash, remove the instrument panel and check to make sure that the connectors are still making a connection. It sounds like they became unclipped.

The question is, does the odometer work?

My sister drove around her VW Jetta with broken speedo and odometer for about 40K miles without tacking on any mileage. Unfortunately, she never got to sell it because the car caught fire and was totalled.

Nope the odometer doesnt work..i checked that first.. its stuck just like the speedo..
I think the master cable that drives that whole device has fallen out.

It was on the 405 this morning on the way back.. that is why i had touch and go traffic for a long time....

I'm thinkin' the same thing you guys are. He's got a Toyota in the shop and a Saturn that he can't drive because the garage door opener sucks and he says Dodge sucks because of a relatively minor issue like that? Geez. Grouchy!

Well I dont mind the car as much, but this car has been known for all sort of problems.

The car's brakes squeal the first few minutes and then once it warms up it works half decent (this is with new pads installed by Reseda Dodge). The 3 speed auto feels like its on drugs, its absolutly sucks, then there is the airconditioner that needed some fixing around 41K, and for some reason rust is forming..Other wise I must say its a very well built car.. atleast its 3 speed tranny is.. my dad put the car into reverse (thinking he was in his saturn and was downshifting) on the freeway at 65 only to make the car come to a complete halt. It caused an accident, but my mom's car went with just a broken tail light.

As for the garage door, Its jumping the rails, Sears is going to come by and fix it in the next few days (thank god so I can take it for camping). I dont mind the garage door opener its just that its less than a year old.. and its already giving trouble.
