there's a genious statement, "it's purely mechanical"? We all know that transmissions, axles, and differentials can never break or have something bad happen to them, they're purely mechanical!

recall had to be issued for them
I have no idea about the reliability of their trannies, but I've heard horror stories about getting transmission parts if anything goes wrong in that area, here's a

All I know is it's a Misubishi, and they can't be counted on to make reliable vehicles, i.e. crankwalking issues on the Eclipse/Talons. Should he not buy the car? No, I don't know how bad he wants it, all I told him was to make sure he's got money to repair it if something goes wrong. These are not cheap cars to repair if something happens. I also know that the majority of owners of turbocharged vehicles don't know how important synthetic oil is, or even the concept of cooling the car down before shutting it off (not a huge problem considering the turbos were rebuilt at this point), but my point is that a car that's that fast and affordable at this age means the liklihood of someone not taking care of it is higher than ever. And with 115K on the clock, the odds are stacked against him to have nothing go wrong. It could run perfectly, who knows, but you have to be aware of the risks involved.
