Don't think that. KNOW IT!

The Mazda3 beats all the other cars in its class all over the place and kicks them while they are down. It's a fun fun fun car to drive too! That's why I bought one 🙂

If I had to choose, I would take a Focus. My wife has an '00 Neon SXT, and it is pretty cramped inside. I'm a chubby guy at 5'7" or so, and I can't get very comfortable. I could deal with it as a short range commuter, but that would be it. I've been in a few Focuses before and they were far more comfortable to sit it and to drive.

But I wouldn't take either if I didn't have to.

Check out Edmunds.com for great reviews, specs, and safety ratings on the cars you are considering. It's worth the time...you will have that car for a while, so make an informed decision.

cough....*Honda*....cough....cough

Ok, I will try to get a Mazda3 or Honda (automatic trans) in $16,000. Gonna check the price for Matrix also.

Thanks.

Do this, to learn a manual. Put a car on the middle of the steepest and longest incline you can fine. Then try to drive forward up the incline without rolling back or stalling. Do this in a place where no other cars are around and with a beater for a car or a friends car with a manual transmission. If only takes about an hour to get it right and then you can drive a manual for the rest of your life with no problem.

Use the picture above for reference.

My friend just bought a Scion tC and its a nice car for the money.
my bro should have gotten this then a 2006 Acura RSX

That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If you want the safest car in that price range, get the Mazda3. If you want the best handling car in that price range, get the Mazda3. If you want the most interior room, get the Mazda3. If you want the best looks, get the Mazda3.

Don't believe me? Check Edmunds latest "Economy Car" review. Guess who comes in #1?

other than the looks (subjective) what you say is fairly true from what i've heard.

the Mazda 3 is a good choice.

it is MUCH more standoutish than a civic.

i had test driven: Civic, Cobalt, 3. i preferred the 3 by miles, but the costs started getting to High, so i bought a saab.
