They seem to want to sell off Ram and Jeep, the two divisions that are keeping FCA afloat.

Seems like China will get Jeep.

That seems like a car that would be really awesome until about two days after the warranty runs out. I also suspect they have a "sporty" ride and I wouldn't necessarily want one as a DD.

The Chargers and Challengers I see on the road around here tend to be kinda beat up. I assume it's a case of "if you could afford the maintenance, you'd have bought a different car in the first place."

I'd also want the 4-door. But that's me.

IMO, get a used Accord 4-cyl as a DD and lease a Challenger for the weekends. :)

What do you consider reliable? I owned a few FCA products. They never left me stranded, but geez there were tons of small issues.

I wouldn't buy one.

Based on the horrible experience people (including myself) have had with modern Chrysler family vehicles, I wouldn't touch a single product of theirs again

It's a shame too, because they really do know how to design good looking vehicles (inside and out) with good features. Those don't mean anything when a 14 month old car spends 3 months in the shop with no idea of what's wrong, and you have to threaten legal action to get anything done.

I don't get how they're still in business either

Ya, always liked the styling of Chryslers. They also tend to be quite innovative too, but not in the Reliability area.

They are however pretty cheap since you're being ripped off if you can't get at least 20% off any non-jeep fca car. The amount of power you can get for $30k accord prices is kinda crazy.

Also I guess they have terrible resale so even less for a used challenger if you can get repairs for cheap.

I wouldn't touch one. We have a small fleet at work and they are crap. At 30k they just start falling apart. Mine has 20k and it already creaks and rattles. Takes a small miracle if the front ends don't need redone at 50k. Top ends of the motors are tearing up at 100k. Granted we are hard on them but maintenance is excellent.

Man, you guys have had some bad experiences. I bought an '06 Charger with 150k miles on it last year and I've loved it so far. Engine is still running strong and the only thing I've had to replace were the rear tires. :)

I just wouldn't touch an FCA product. A lot of friends/family have had a lot of trouble with their FCA products. People on this forum have had plenty of problems. Rentals I have had are always underwhelming (200) or broken with few miles on them (minivan). It is a shame as they do design some pretty fantastic vehicles on paper. Execution just doesn't seem to be their thing. Of course I drive a BMW and my wife drives an Audi...so I wouldn't take my advice on reliability being a basis for decision making.

It's not about our individual bad experiences (anecdotes), it's about data.

Sure, there are Dodges in the Million Mile club, but the reliability data says that on any random day, a randomly selected Chrysler is more likely to have a problem than a randomly selected Toyota or Buick or Lincoln. So we recommend based on that.

I'm glad you're having a good experience with your car, though. No snark; here's to many years of trouble-free driving. :D
