And they're always correct. ;)

I think my generation is way better than the boomers or gen x'ers
If you mean more fearful, entitled, whiny and less creative then you are right.

right, because *we're* the ones who are going to crush the social security program while driving around in our jumbo SUV's and taking out second, third, and fourth mortgages on houses that we couldn't afford in the first place.

Cant have anybody possibly getting injured as a kid
Cant have people feel the paint of defeat as a kid
Cant have kids excercise either

What a pussified world we are living in.

My gym teacher in Jr.High was an ex-Drill sgt. We ran 1/2 mile a day plus 1 mile on wensdays. We played all kinds of sports, football basketball and the such and he actually kept track of who won. If you did well enough you had to come in after school and play in the "finals" the best teams in all the different classes. bleh anyways
just a few years after that when i went to high school, gym class consisted of here are some basketballs, have at it, No structure at all

Next they will ban Soccer.

We use to play dodge ball when waiting for the bus in the gym with every ball we had, including basketballs. This was when I was in the 6th or 7th grade. We loved it.

It'll probably get to the point where they ban anything competitive. After all, we wouldn't want to hurt anyone's so very precious self-esteem, as that would be grounds for a lawsuit. The pharmaceutical industry is going to have a golden age in a few years when all these kids reach "adulthood" without the skills needed to cope with life.

They already rules in high school football where a coach can get fired if they run up the score. In a game where the first string players were pulled and the team didn't run any pass plays, the coach was still fired for running up the score.

Here in TX at some kid's hockey games, if a team is ahead by more than 5 goals, they won't change the scoreboard if that team scores more goals (even though the goals are still tracked in the game/player statistics).

All of this to protect the 'fragile' ego of young players who lose in competitive sports. At what point do they learn that losing (sometimes losing big) is a part of life. The amount of coddling going on is just disgusting...

I only know 'dodgeball' from that movie.
At school we used to play 'stingball', which was actually much the same thing, only with a tennis ball. It had the added feature of the 'tunnel of death' - if you were out too many times everyone would line up facing the wall with their hands on the wall and you had to run through the gap while everyone tried to kick the crap out of you.

Did you somehow miss the future tense in my post? You know, the part where I said "it'll probably get to the point where they ban".....

Dodge ball is already banned in some school districts. The dirtrict my mother used to work for (now retired) has banned such contact activities like dodge ball and tag, they've been banned for a couple years now.
